Materials synthesis

The Swiss CAT+ East is also equipped with high-end robotic platforms allowing the synthesis of materials in an automated and high-throughput way according to most common routes (impregnation, coprecipitation, hydro/solvothermal synthesis, micro-wave synthesis...). Various throughput and reactor volumes can be chosen from, allowing hundreds of samples to be prepared per run. Furthermore, all the data (weights, volumes, pH, CAS#, lot of the reactants, etc.) is recorded and samples' barcodes tracked, to guarantee an extremely high reproducibility of the synthesis protocols.

Catalyst performance screening

The SwissCAT+ East is equipped with several state-of-the-art high-throughput fixed-bed and batch reactors. We can help you to screen your materials' catalytic performances in a wide variety of reactions and/or conditions with high accuracy and reproducibly. In our XR unit, 16 solid catalysts can be evaluated in parallel, whereas in each of the two XDs, 4 air/moisture sensitive (or not) catalysts are tested simultaneously (24 fixed-bed reactors in total). In addition, the CAT96 allows to screen the catalytic performances of up to 96 catalysts simultaneously under batch conditions.

Machine Learning optimization

We are not only focused on reactors or robotic synthesis platforms but also on data analysis and machine learning optimization. Either by using your/our proprietary algorithm, or by using one of our AI solutions from our partners we can help you to close the loop and find new catalysts or material generations that outperform previous candidates, maximizing yield, textural properties, etc.

Then, libraries of materials are synthesized, characterized, and tested using robotic and high-throughput tools. Input and output data of each experimental steps are digitalized and stored in databases. Consulting services

While it is not our main activity, we also offer consulting services for reactor design and/or purchases of new equipment. The SwissCAT+ East team has plenty of experience in the field of high-throughput reactors and robotic platforms, and we could assist to design your new lab (or equipment) to guarantee that the best option for each particular case is selected, and no money is wasted on equipment that will never be used.
